Accessibility, Inclusion & Equal Opportunity

Accessibility in Higher Education Institutions ensures that all learners, irrespective of physical, sensory or socio-economic barriers, are able to participate fully in academic and campus life. In alignment with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the UGC Accessibility Guidelines (2022), the College has constituted the Accessibility, Inclusion and Equal Opportunity Committe e for the Academic Year 2025–26 to facilitate equitable access, inclusion, reasonable accommodation and effective governance in matters related to accessibility and student support services. The Committee shall function in coordination with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and other statutory bodies of the institution.

  • Functions of the Committee – 

The Accessibility, Inclusion and Equal Opportunity Committee shall perform the following functions in accordance with the UGC Accessibility Guidelines (2022) , NEP 2020, and institutional policy:

  1. Need Assessment and Support Provisions: Conduct need assessment of students with disabilities, identify academic, examination and support requirements, recommend reasonable accommodation, and facilitate individualized academic support, mentoring and counselling through institutional support mechanisms.

  2. Accessible Information, Communication and Learning Resources: Ensure dissemination of information regarding facilities, institutional policies, rights and support systems through counselling, institutional communication channels and the college website, and facilitate access to digitally accessible learning resources and ICT-enabled support services.

  3. Inclusive Mobility Infrastructure: Identify mobility-related needs of students with disabilities and facilitate equitable access to campus facilities through appropriate coordination and support.

  4. Universal Accessibility in Built Infrastructure: Review availability of barrier-free access to academic and administrative spaces and recommend phased, need-based improvements in built infrastructure to support universal accessibility.

  5. Accessible Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Systems: Facilitate flexibility in curriculum delivery, teaching–learning processes and inclusive instructional practices in accordance with UGC and university norms.

  6. Accessible Assessment and Examination Systems: Coordinate examination-related accommodations such as extra/compensatory time, seating arrangements or assistive support, wherever applicable, to ensure fair and non-discriminatory assessment.

  7. Accessibility of Resources and Services: Facilitate access to academic, administrative and support services for students with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups, while maintaining relevant records securely for service delivery and compliance.

  8. Inclusive Campus Life: Promote a respectful, inclusive and non-discriminatory campus environment, interact with parents/guardians as required, collect feedback, prepare Action Taken Reports (ATR), and submit brief reports to the IQAC / Head of the Institution for governance, monitoring and continuous improvement.

  • Status Note (AY 2025–26) The Accessibility, Inclusion and Equal Opportunity Committee has been constituted for the Academic Year 2025–26. Policies and support mechanisms are being implemented in a phased and need-based manner.
